What we collect, and what we do with it.
Short version: if you fill in the contact form we keep what you typed so we can answer you. We do not sell it, we do not share it with anyone who is not listed below, and you can have it deleted by asking.

Who we are
Rank Monk is the data controller for everything on this page. We are at The Junction Market, 95 Seven Sisters Rd, London N7 7QP. Reach us at contact@rankmonk.net or +44 7876 095523.
The contact form
When you send the form, we receive and store:
- Your name, email address and business name, and which of owner, agency, multi-location brand or other you picked.
- Your phone number, what the enquiry is about and your message, if you filled those in.
- Whether you ticked the consent box and the marketing box, and when.
- How you arrived: the page you landed on, the page you sent the form from, the referring site, any campaign tags in the link, and your time zone. This tells us which of our pages actually brings people in.
We do not store your IP address against your enquiry. The rate limit that stops one address flooding the form works off a one-way hash of it, held for about an hour and then deleted, and it is never joined to what you sent.
Why we are allowed to
- Answering you — our legitimate interest in replying to someone who asked us a question, and the step before a contract if you go on to hire us.
- Marketing emails — only if you ticked that second box. That is consent, it is separate, and leaving it unticked changes nothing about the reply you get. Every such email carries a working unsubscribe link, as PECR requires.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become work are deleted after 24 months. If you become a client, the enquiry becomes part of the client record and is kept for as long as we work together plus six years, which is what the tax rules require of the invoices attached to it.
Who else touches it
Three processors, and no one else. None of them is given your details for their own purposes, and we do not sell data to anybody.
- Amazon Web Services — hosts the site and stores the enquiry, in the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region, and sends the notification email to our inbox.
- Cloudflare — runs the Turnstile check on the form. It loads only once you start filling the form in, and it is what stops the form being used to send bulk email. Cloudflare sees the request that solves the challenge; it does not see the rest of the form.
- Google — Google Analytics, and only if you agreed to it in the banner. See below.
Because AWS Mumbai is outside the UK, that transfer relies on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, which is part of the AWS terms we are on.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets cookies that are not strictly necessary, so we load none of it until you press yes on the banner — before that, the only requests the page makes are to rankmonk.net. Your answer is remembered in your browser's local storage, not sent anywhere, and clearing your site data brings the banner back so you can change it. Saying no changes nothing about how the site works.
The form also keeps the campaign tags of your visit in session storage, so they survive you moving between pages. That clears itself when you close the tab, and it only reaches us if you actually send the form.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to stop using it for marketing, or object to us using it at all. Email contact@rankmonk.net and we will do it within one month; there is nothing to prove and no form to fill in.
If we get it wrong you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Changes
If what we do with your details changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We will not apply a change retrospectively to an enquiry you sent under the old version.
